September Beauty Favorites

It’s been a while since I last posted about a few beauty favorites, but I’ve gotten some really good ones since then. I always look for items that are easy to use and will only buy things that have genuinely impressed me.

It takes a lot of searching for products that fit the bill, so I thought I’d share my most-loved ones with you each month.

Here are my picks for September:

Q and A: How To Choose and Work With A Photographer

Earlier this year, we were lucky to have our friends, Kyndall Elliott and her husband Ronnie, visit us from Idaho. Kyndall is an incredible wedding photographer and I was so lucky that she volunteered to take a few photos of me around Notting Hill.

Because I learned so much while Kyndall was around, I asked if she might do a Q&A for the blog, answering a few questions about working with a photographer (plus a few photography and editing tips too!). Her answers are, like Kyndall herself, amazingly helpful:

My Autumnal Color Palette

It’s so helpful to think of a few colors to stick to each season. Akin to my strategy in packing a suitcase, you want to minimize items you buy (or pack) and maximize the outfit options you have. Sticking to a few colors helps to ensure that any piece you pull out will probably go with at least a few other items.

My autumnal color palette can essentially be summed up by the colors in this dress—a few of my year-round favorites (I see you, blush pink!) plus a couple of new additions too!

The Gal Meets Glam Kaye Dress

Ever since their launch in April, I’ve been wanting to add a couple of Gal Meets Glam Collection dresses to my wardrobe. Julia Engel is a blogger I’ve followed for years and it’s so exciting to see someone work so hard to see their goals realized.

As you’d expect, all the dresses are simply stunning. Like Julia’s style, they’re feminine, elegant and timeless. With so many of the designs being subtle nods to the past, I love that these are dresses that will never go out of style, including this one.

How I'm Shopping Strategically for Fall

Earlier this year, I realized that I was spending more that I should on clothes and that many of said clothes didn’t pair together all too well! Fed up with feeling like I had nothing to wear despite regularly adding to my closet, I decided think more intentionally when adding new pieces to my wardrobe.

Here’s how I’ve started shopping (and dressing) more strategically for fall:

The Simple Routine That's Changed My Skin

I thought one of the benefits of growing older would be having better (or at least less temperamental) skin. Until recently that’s definitely not been the case!

Every month my skin would get bad, particularly around the jawline—hello hormones! Unsightly breakouts seemed to be the norm and I thought that I’d just have to accept that, yes, as an adult my skin is only slightly better than it had been in my teens.

It's taken years of trial and error to get here, but I'm so happy to have found simple a routine that suits my skin! Here it is.

Notes on Dressing Smart

September 6th is National Read a Book Day, so I wanted to share some of my most-loved books, and what I’ve learned from them. But knowledge alone sometimes isn't enough to make your mark—how you present yourself each day matters too. So alongside my favorite books, I've decided to share a few thoughts on how to look pulled-together.

Grab a paper and pencil, here are my notes on dressing smart!

Dressing for your Destination

Not only is it practical, but it’s also very fun to tailor your outfit for your destination when traveling.

I'm always inspired by the places I'm able to travel to, and that really reflects in my outfits that I'll bring with (and the pieces I purchase during the trip)!

When choosing outfits to pack, here are three things that I think about when dressing for the city we’ll be traveling to:

Put A Bow On It

…and I'll probably buy it!

Trends and seasons may come and go and my tastes may change over time, but there are a few things that'll always catch my eye.

This outfit just happens to combine all three! And in front of That Pink Door in Knightsbridge, what could be better?
