On Festivities and Friendship

While previously the holidays centered around family (and it still does!) I now am also lucky to have friends in London who feel like family to me. I try to keep old traditions going, but it feels really special to make new ones too.

Each year brings about changes, but I love an annual tradition to keep me feeling grounded (and as something to look forward to, no matter what the time of year). This particular tradition feels extra special—and wrapped with a ribbon, no less.

Birthday Weekend in Paris

Get ready for a long post, because I think Paris happens to be one of the most photogenic cities in the wold, so of course I got snapping! Last month I had a really special and memorable birthday weekend in Paris spent with my husband. A few days filled with incredible food, stunning sights, new discoveries and old favorites…and a little shopping too! Here’s what we got up to during our long weekend in Paris:

Winter White in Stuttgart

Despite the fact that I take public transport regularly, have a tendency to spill coffee and have two black cats, this white coat has become a staple of my winter wardrobe this year. Against all odds, it’s even managed to stay clean. And I’ve even worn it on board four flights—really!

I really like white coat plus a few sparkly accessories as a different take on festive dressing, and this outfit is a shining example!

Seeing the Christmas Markets of Southwest Germany

I come from a family of people who love to travel (myself included) and I’m lucky to have been to a fair amount of places. But I’m the only person who had still never been to Germany (save for a layover in an airport, but that doesn’t count). I felt a bit like I was missing out, so when Supal asked if I’d like to join her on a trip to Stuttgart, my answer was of course a firm ‘yes!’.

It was a whirlwind trip to say the least. From the moment we landed until the moment we took off back to London, our days were packed. From medieval towns to the most modern library you’ve ever seen, plus plenty of Christmas market charm, here’s what we got up to in Southwest Germany:

The Jumpsuit of Dreams

If you see me at a party or event this holiday season, I’ll probably be wearing this.

Bold color, playful pattern and sheer, voluminous sleeves that remind me of I Dream of Jeannie in the best possible way. I love wearing clothes that call to mind another era and this jumpsuit does just that with its shape, pattern and perfect detailing.

Yes, this is the jumpsuit of dreams!

A Three Day Porto Itinerary

A little earlier in the year, my fellow blogger Supal asked if I’d be interested in joining her on a trip to Porto. I’ve only ever heard wonderful things about this city, so it was an immediate ‘yes!’ from me. We managed to fit in so many experiences and sights during our two days in the city.

Here’s what we got up to during our time in this beautiful city:

Changing Leaves, Changing Fabrics

Now that we’re a few days into November, we’re fully immersed in autumn. The mornings are crisp, the days are short and the leaves have gone from green to a gorgeous array of red, yellow and orange.

I use the changing leaves as a signal to switch out the fabrics in my wardrobe—embracing the new season by putting away the linens and lightweight cottons, in favor of cozier fabrics. And this dress, already a firm favorite, is front and center in my wardrobe.

The Most Versatile Piece in My Winter Wardrobe

The most versatile item in my winter wardrobe is an unexpected one—a houndstooth coat. With it’s streamlined tailoring, velvet details and blue, black and red pattern it’s already become the most reached for item in my closet. It looks lovely dressed up or down and can be worn in so many situations.

On a recent trip to Sweden, I inadvertently proved the versatility of this jacket by wearing three very different looks, all topped with this coat. Here’s how I styled this coat three ways while on our jaunt to Sweden:

Reflections on Three Years in London

It’s been a little over three years since my husband and I made the life changing decision to move to London and quite frankly, it’s hard to imagine a life anywhere else. Yes, even on the rainiest days, I’m still in love with this city.

Without a doubt, moving here has the best decision of our lives and to mark the milestone, I thought I’d reflect back on the past few years with some questions to myself. A fun exercise that’s filled me with so much gratitude towards this place and the people and places that make it so special.
