Put A Bow On It
My Outfit

...and I'll probably buy it.
Trends and seasons may come and go and my tastes may change over time, but there are a few things that'll always catch my eye. Anything with a cat motif, anything with a slight sixties nod and of course anything with a bow.
This outfit just happens to combine all three! And in front of That Pink Door in Knightsbridge, what could be better?
This dress caught my eye last year and I knew I needed to try it on in store. I was immediately drawn to the grosgrain bow that defines the waist. Just as you'd tied a bow around a bouquet of blooms, why not dress yourself up with one? I actually have a collection of ribbons that I've saved from bouquets, packages and gifts that I'll occasionally use in my hair!
Of all the past decades, I have to say I'm always drawn to the sixties when it comes to style inspiration. Whether I've seen a Slim Arons photo or rewatched my favorite film, Catch Me if You Can, the styles of this era always linger on my mind.
The short, flared hemline immediately say sixties to my with this dress. I've always loved a sleeveless style too, so this dress from & Other Stories was an immediate yes.
More & Other Stories Favorites:
I think this shape is so flattering. I like to accentuate my arms and legs and this little frock does just that while the gathering at the waist courtesy of the bow happens to hide anything I'd rather not draw attention to! Also, did I mention it has pockets?
These sparkly J.Crew earrings add some fun, as do a few other accessories. This particular pair may be sold out, but I've linked a few current favorites below.
Oversized Earrings I'm Loving:
I decided to go for a monochrome look, with a marbleized minaudière, oversized sunglasses and favorite black kitty flats. I bought them at Harrods (which is just a stone's throw away from this pink door) after we first moved to London. They're a little nod to our two black cats, Cocoa and Tella and they always put a smile on my face.
Be it nods to a certain decade, a familiar print or a particular accent, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has certain things that always catch their eye.
What are yours?
Until next time,
- Brenda
