Occasionwear You'll Actually Wear
My Outfit
Boden Dress | Chanel Bag | Le Specs Sunglasses | Target Flats
Occasionwear was only a word I've heard of in the past year or so—and it seems that every other brand is launching their own so-called collections just in time for summer events. So, what in the world is 'occasionwear' anyways?
It's clothes—be it dresses, suits, separates—meant for special occasions you might be invited to, like say, a wedding. Now, when I think of wedding wear, graduation parties, rehearsal dinners (I could go on!), I think of clothes that are stiff, maybe a bit boring or subdued, matronly or overly embellished. Not what I want to wear any day of my life, let alone a special one!
When Boden's latest catalog popped through our letterbox, this striped number was gracing the cover and I absolutely loved it. And you know what? It's actually part of their occasionwear collection. (By the way, this post is in no way sponsored, I just really happen to love this dress!)
I'm so glad that they've included so many pieces that are playful, bold and actually wearable - I also love this striped blouse. Occasions are usually parties, which are meant to be fun—I think your outfit should make you feel wonderful and ready to partake in it!
I initially bought this dress for our trip to Amsterdam (find our itinerary here). I had visions of standing in a field of tulips, the rows of blooms mirroring the stripes of the dress. Sadly, the weather was against us, so I wasn't able to capture my vision. But not to worry, because this dress has gotten plenty of use—no need to save it for only special occasions!
Most recently, I wore it while out and about with Supal (and we actually twinned—we're both Boden lovers!). We wanted to explore Primrose Hill (which I've only been to once). She guided us to the most stunning streets, filled with colorful townhomes (which you know I love if you've read this or this post!).
It's so wonderful to have a friend to wander around with (and someone who'll take endless photos of your dress that just happens to coordinate with the paint colors!).
I'd highly recommend this part of town for a bit of a stroll. Have a cookie at Primrose Bakery, meander up to the high street, then walk towards Primrose Hill park for an amazing view of the city. It's a panorama of all the iconic buildings—you can even see the shard!
Once the summer weather finally rolls around, I'll most certainly make another outing to this part of town for a picnic. And you know what? I might just wear this breezy Boden dress too.
Any day's a special occasion, right?
Until next time,
- Brenda
