Stop, wait a minute. Fill my cup, put some flowers in it. A mint julep cup, that is!

Every year, the Kentucky Derby is run the first Saturday in May and you can bet (ha!) that the winning horse will be draped in a beautiful garland of red roses. Inspired by that radiant red garland, I decided to put together a simple flower arrangement that would be perfect for any Kentucky Derby day party. Roses seem a little obvious, so I chose to place a handful of anemones (they come in a variety of colors, but I think red may be the best of all) in a shiny silver julep cup.

Simply gather 15-20 stems in one hand, cut with shears to fit the cup and wrap the bunch two times around with a rubber band to hold everything in place. Fill the cup with water (and flower food, if desired), place the bunch of stems in the cup, and you're off to the races!

In the words of Ina, "how easy is that?'

Enjoy!
