Pink, Purple, and Petals
| My Outfit |
If I were to give an award for prettiest season, spring is easily the winner, especially in London. Just as the pretty pink cherry blossoms are starting to fall off the trees, the purple wisteria begins to bloom. I love how each flower seems to bloom in succession, beginning with daffodils, then camellias and cherry blossoms, and finally wisteria and tulips.
Being a four-day Bank Holiday weekend, we finished our usual weekend chores by Friday evening and had plenty of free time on Saturday to wander the neighborhood to check on the blooms on our way to lunch at Ottolenghi (one of my favorites!).
A windy spring day called for a light leather jacket. I paired this with white jeans and a blush pink top - now that winter is finally over, I feel that it's time to banish my black clothes to the back of my closet! My Target flats have become my go-to shoes for city walks because they are incredibly comfortable and seem to match just about everything in my closet.
I hadn't worn my blush Chanel bag in quite some time and brought it out just to match all the blossoms. I'm usually not one to hope for wind, but when it causes the cherry blossoms to gently blow past and around you, it's worth waiting for.
Just a street away we came across the most incredible wisteria vine, twisting its way up and across a white London townhouse. You could smell the blooms from blocks away - just incredible!
I of course had to stop and take some snaps in front of (and of) this pretty purple sight (as did just about everyone who walked by). We kept making our way towards lunch, stopping just once more to take a couple of photos in front of the 'turquoise island' on Westbourne Grove.
Home to a Wild at Heart outpost, it's quite a sight and always a great backdrop for photos. Having enough of the wind, we picked up our Ottolenghi salads (and treats - cookie for him, flourless chocolate cake for me) and headed back home, passing the blossoms once more.
Until next time,
