On The High Street

Zara Dress | Le Specs Sunglasses (also love Quay) | Target Shoes (last seen here and here) | Topshop Lipstick in Macaroon
It would of course be a dream to walk into Selfridges and pick out anything I'd like, but in reality I try not to spend too much on clothes. I do occasionally splurge on timeless items that will last for years and years but that is the exception.
I thought for this post, I would share my spending strategy as well as some of my favorite 'high street' brands that I turn to time and time again.
The bottom line is that I only buy things that I really love. I know from experience that if I don't feel excited about my purchase, it'll sit unused in my closet and eventually be donated with tags still attached.
When I'm on the high street, I can spend my money a bit differently than I would in a place like Selfridges or Harrods, feeling free to experiment with color and buying basics that I know I'll replace regularly! For instance, I never spend too much on a work bag - I know that will all the things I tote around, it'll get tattered no matter what material it's made of!
This outfit is a mix of pieces from some of my favorite high street stores - an indigo Zara dress with modern textured lace, Target sandals that I seldom wear (but go with every dress I own) and Topshop lipstick that's such a good price you can buy it in a few different shades.
Window shopping is one of my favorite pastimes. I love seeing the new styles each season, but at the end of the day, I know that I only have so much to spend, so I only go for what I truly covet. Isn't it more fun to open your wardrobe and be excited about all the options you have?
Until next time,
- B
