2016 New Year's Resolutions
Last year, I made a few New Year's resolutions based on a fun questionnaire that I had found. I'm happy to say that I did a pretty good job and accomplished nearly every one! It's now halfway into January, so I've had a good amount of time to ponder new ones for 2016. I think it's important to take time to reflect upon your accomplishments and set new goals for yourself throughout the year (not just in January!), but here's what's on my mind now:
A bad habit I'm going to break | This year, instead of breaking a bad habit, I intend to instill a good one - making the bed each morning. It's always good to start each day with a task accomplished and come home each night to an inviting and cozy bed.
A destination I'd like to visit | The English countryside. I'd love to see thatched roofs, stone cottages, and green fields and maybe even a few garden roses. I have my eyes set on the Cotswolds and hope to visit sometime in the spring or summer.
I'm going to work harder at | Saying 'yes.' To new situations, invitations, or activities. It's easy to stay in a comfort zone, but I think it's important to always challenge yourself and grow and simply saying 'yes' to new things is a simple way to do just that.
A project I'd like to finish | I don't think decorating a space can ever really be 'finished,' (to me, it's an ever-evolving and ongoing project) but I'd love for our apartment to feel a bit more put-together. Hanging pictures and finally buying a coffee table would be a great place to start!
A class I'd like to take | Spin classes. Since I first took a class in college, it's been my favorite form of exercising. It's been over a year since I've taken a class, so I'd love to include regular classes into my schedule.
I'd like to spend some more time doing | Being outside. I always feel inspired and refreshed after spending time outdoors, so why not take more time to do so?
A food I want to eat more of | Greens. I'm one who's fairly fond of carbs, but I've recently started drinking green juice in the morning and love how energized it makes me feel. I'd like to keep up this habit throughout the year and incorporate more greens into my lunches and dinners too.
I want to wear more | Classic separates. I've been a little dress obsessed over the past year, but nothing beats the versatility of a classic pair of trousers or pretty blouse. I'd like to add more of these timeless pieces into my wardrobe over the next year.
Until next time,
- B
