A Weekend in New York

A Weekend in New York | Sundays and Somedays

Kate Spade bag | Catbird jewelry | Canon camera | J.Crew coat

This past fall, my husband had the opportunity to travel to New York for work. I of course, volunteered to tag along! I was reluctant to like New York, as I had visions of the dirty, crime-ridden city depicted in Crocodile Dundee ("That's not a knife, this is a knife") in my head. Though after a full weekend spent meandering, my worries faded and I began to fall in love with this energetic city. We were also fortunate to spend time with friends who call New York home. They led us to some unique and fun places we would never have found on our own.

Next time, I'd love to visit in the summer and stay in the picturesque West Village neighborhood. Until then, I'll cherish the memories of a wonderful trip!

Here's a recap of our New York itinerary:

Friday

Arrive in New York

Take a cab to our Airbnb in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Dinner at Esme - we also love Colexico for Tex-Mex

Saturday

Take the subway to Manhattan

Walk up Madison Avenue, stopping at Kate Spade, Kwiat and J.Crew - all my favorites!

Have an early lunch at Fred's at Barney's - a must!

Stop by Ladurée for some macarons

Stroll through Central Park, stop at the sailboat pond to sit and eat our macarons, take some photos and ponder our next move

Walk to Mid Town to admire the department store winter window displays and the tree in Rockefeller Center

Meet friends for pre-dinner champagne at the Plaza - expensive, but so worth it for the experience

Mexican for dinner at Mayahuel

Drinks at Fig 19 - a speakeasy-esque bar hidden in the back of a closed art gallery

Sunday

Donuts at Peter Pan - I'm always on the lookout for a donut to rival my beloved Top Pot - this came close!

Walk to Williamsburg

Stop for coffee and Catbird

Take the subway to the West Village

Shop on Bleecker Street - Jack Spade for him, Diptque for me

Lunch at Le Pain Quotidien

Meander around the Meatpacking District - walk the High Line, check out the Chelsea Market and the Gansvoort Market, pop into Warby Parker

Meet up with friends at the Otheroom - they serve a good Kir Royale!

Decide upon Left Bank for dinner - excellent food and even better drinks - loved their Aviation

Head into Little Branch for post dinner drinks - and to escape the rain
